Klara and the Sun - A Novel to Test One's Morals

*This Review Contains Spoilers* - Read More Book Reviews and Follow my Goodreads Account: Maggie Rhoads - Four out of Five Stars Klara and the Sun , by Kazuo Ishiguro, is another book I had to read for summer reading. This book is about an AF (Artificial Friend) named Klara and Josie's serving. The novel honestly does not follow a specific plotline. It goes into depth about interactions between the characters, and Klara takes that in as an AF.  In the novel, we learn that Josie has been genetically lifted to go to college while her friend Rick has not been genetically modified and has seemed to already have his future written for him, which is not in a good way. Josie and Rick have also claimed to be in love and often discuss their future plans. However, these plans seem to be skewed because a side effect of being genetically modified causes severe sickness, which usually happens to Josie. In fact, Josie had an older sister named Sal, who was also genetically modified but died du

The Nightingale - A Tale of Two Perspectives

*This Review Contains Spoilers* - Read More Book Reviews and Follow my Goodreads Account: Maggie Rhoads - Three out of Five Stars The Nightingale , by Kristin Hannah, was a book I had to read for summer reading, so this book was not a book that I picked out voluntarily. Anyway, this book was about Isabelle and Vianne, who are polar opposites and personalities I will dive into later. Anyway, these two sisters are supposedly ten years apart and were sent to live with this lady called Madame "Doom" after their alcoholic and traumatized by the war father dropped them off because their mother died in Carriveau, France. Vianne, before the war, met a man named Antonine who, after several failed miscarriages, was able to get pregnant and give birth to a daughter named Sophie. On the other hand, Isabelle has spent her time before the war going to different boarding schools and getting kicked out of them. Another note that should be taken is that the book begins and ends with Vianne go

Wilder Girls - An Unrelatable Read Amidst the Pandemic

*This Review Contains Spoilers* - Read More Book Reviews and Follow my Goodreads Account: Maggie Rhoads - One out of Five Stars Wilder Girls  by Rory Power takes place at Raxter Boarding School for Girls during a pandemic called the Tox. They are quarantining at the school as they have been for the past eighteen months. Many people, including students and staff, had died despite receiving food and other necessities from the government. However, the only way that they will be allowed to leave is when a cure distributed. The story centers on Hetty, Byatt, and some other girl (whose name I do not remember). Unfortunately, Byatt becomes very ill with the Tox and suddenly goes missing. Therefore, Hetty makes it her goal to find Byatt.  Honestly, this book ended in such confusion, so I have no idea what happened besides that they found Byatt who was either dead or very close to being dead. I felt what made this story so confusing was the many subplots diverted from the main plot of the story
